Education is a very important factor in the lives of people today but it seems some level of education is reserved for young ones. However, some elderly people have shown that they are not too old to learn.
The University of Lagos held its 50th convocation ceremony on April 2, 2019, and a 77-year-old retiree was among the graduating students.
The woman identified as Bridget Obiageli Okonji was among the 12,843 students to graduate at the ceremony.

Bridget bagged a Bachelor of Education degree in Guidance and Counselling. In an interview with Vanguard, the elderly woman revealed that she decided to go back to school to help the society and also to avoid boredom as a retiree.
She said: “I am a retired officer and when you retire you do not have to stay at home dying.”
“It is better you go out and seek for education than staying at home at your old age doing nothing for yourself and the society.”
Speaking further, Bridget explained that education has no limit and it is from birth to death.
“Why I came for more education is to help the society and encourage others that feel they can not have education due to age. This is because education has not limit. It is from cradle to death.”
This is very commendable and would serve as an inspiration to old folks.
