UEFA slam heavy ban on Real Madrid star as he is set to miss last 16 and quarter final games

- Sergio Ramos will not be available for Real Madrid's last 16 match against Ajax and quarter final

- UEFA slammed the Spanish defender for deliberately committing a foul in the first leg against the Amsterdam side

- The Spain international admitted in a post-match interview after the game against Ajax he fouled Kasper Dolberg

Sergio Ramos has been handed a one-match additional ban by Europe's football governing body UEFA.

The Spain international deliberately committed a foul on Kasper Dolberg in the 89th minute in Los Blancos' round of 16 match away to Ajax.

Santiago Solari's side won the match by 2-1 but they will now be without their controversial captain for the second leg and the first leg quarter final tie if they qualify.

The 32-year-old told reporters after the match he would "be lying if I said I didn't force [the booking]".

A investigation was launched into the match and an additional one-match ban was added to his suspension.

Ramos clarified his post-match comments, saying: "I was referring to forcing the foul, a foul that was inevitable. Not to forcing the booking.

"It was a very dangerous counter-attack in the 88th minute, with an open match and the tie as well."

He added: "That's why I said that I would lie if I said I did not know that I was carrying a penalty, just as I knew that I had no other choice than to make a mistake. And that's what I meant when I said that in football you have to make complicated decisions."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Sergio Ramos who is the captain of Spanish giants Real Madrid has announced that he will marry his long term girlfriend Pilar Rubio in June.

Ramos and the model have been dating since September 2012, and the Spain international wants to tie the knot finally on June 15, in Seville.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
