“Our colleagues were working at the secretariat in preparation for election petition. They molested, arrested and took them away with their working document to the state police command at Bompai Kano where they were put in cell and spent the whole night."

He said all explanations made by the lawyers on their status and what they were doing with sufficient proof of request of results sent to INEC and certified true copy obtained fell on deaf ears.

He said the association had held a meeting and resolved to condemn the unprofessional act of the police for molesting, arresting and detaining their colleagues.

“We condemn the unprofessional act and demand an immediate public apology from the police," he said.

He also called on the police commissioner, Wakili Muhammad, to be non-partisan and professional in the discharge of his duties.

He claimed that it was becoming apparent that his action and that of his men were going contrary to the rule of law and their oath of office.
