The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau state, Senator Jaremiah Useni, has promised to end insecurity in the state if elected governor on March 2.
Guardian reports that he made the statement on Tuesday, January 29, in Jos at the party’s zonal rally for the northern zone of the state.
Legit.ng gathered that Useni, a retired army general, said he would ensure peace returns to all parts of the state to pave way for even development, adding that his government would put in place modalities that would end the lingering farmer-herder clashes in the state.
According to him, “I will end insecurity in Plateau and ensure peace returns to all parts of the state if I become governor, because nothing will work smoothly for us without security of lives and property.

"We must stop the killings. That we must do to enable our farmers go to their farms without fear of being killed. That way, we will have enough food to eat locally and even export, and that will also expand our revenue base.”
Useni, who promised to serve the state with the whole of his strength, assured that he would run an all-inclusive government.
”Nobody will be neglected. We shall run an all-inclusive government where everybody will be involved", he said.
In his remarks, Senator Jonah Jang, said Plateau would give Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, two million votes in the forthcoming general elections.
Jang, the immediate past governor of the state, accused the APC-led government in the country of taking the nation backward through its bad policies, adding that PDP would unseat it in the forthcoming polls.
He urged APC to accept defeat and hand over power to the winners of election, PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, on May 29.
In his welcome address, chairman of the party in the state, Chief Damishi Sango, urged the party supporters to peacefully protect their votes on election days, urging Plateau residents to vote PDP at all levels in the forthcoming polls.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) said it removed campaign billboards of politicians because they did not comply with rules and regulations guiding the placement of billboards in Plateau state.
JMDB's general manager, Mathias Hata, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Thursday, January 24, in Jos that the board had stringent rules guiding the use of billboard and had resolved to implement them fully.
