Monogamy is a sham, your private part is not meant for one person - Filmmaker Onyeka Nwelue

The issue of traditional practices and how it affects relationships have been a much discussed one. While a lot of people believe in the monogamous nature of marriages and relationships in general, some are of the opinion that it is a sham.

Nigerian filmmaker, Onyeka Nwelue, is certainly one man who will speak his mind, regardless of whose ox is gored. He left many people talking after he expressed his opinion on monogamy; the idea of one man to one woman.

According to the Nigerian filmmaker, monogamy is a sham, insinuating that the idea of being intimate with only one person is ridiculous. In his words: "Monogamy is a sham. Your private part is not meant for one person."

In another post, he suggested in subtle words that relationships and marriages are just another means to tie a person down and prevent him/her from reaching their fullest potential.

He wrote: "Imagine that I was married or in any relationship or have children or attached to any rat emotionally! Can I just up and leave, chasing my personal dreams? Trying to make myself happy and staying focused, without anyone trying so hard to keep me at one place or slow my pace? Imagine That!"

Backing Nwelue's opinion on monogamous relationships is a Nigerian lady who also encouraged polygamy.

The lady identified on Facebook as Fatima Aliyu Daku, stated that men should marry more than one wife if they have the money to maintain both women.

According to Fatima, they are too many single women out there and it will be considerate of the men if they marry more women to reduce the number of single women in the country.
