Liverpool legend Gerrard terminates contract of Nigerian striker after 5 appearances

- Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard says he has had enough of Sadiq Umar

- The Nigerian international is currently on a season-long from Roma

- Gerrard wants to replace Umar with Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke

Nigerian international Saidq Umar's contract with Scottish side Glasgow Rangers has been terminated by new manager Steven Gerard.

The 21-year-old will be returning to Roma in the Serie A after having a disappointing spell in a season-long deal with Gers.

And Gerrard has instructed the former member of the Nigeria football team to the Rio Olympics in 2014 he is free to leave, three weeks before the winter transfer window opens.

Sadiq's departure will pave way for Nigerian-born Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke to Ibrox on loan in January.

Gerrard has lost patience with the Nigerian striker having failed to make his starting XI for the last five months in charge, he has only made five substitute appearances.

Sadiq debunked claims he is bound to return to Italy following his disastrous spell with the Scottish Premier League side.

He said: "It's too soon to talk about movements.

"I am here to play football and I know it won't be easy.

"Its a privilege to work with a living legend like Steven Gerrard.

"I'm working hard in training and we're doing the right things.

"It's just too early to talk about leaving. Let's just see how the future turns out."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is now reportedly interested in quitting the Three Lions of England to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Sheyi Ojo qualifies to play for the Super Eagles because his parents are Nigerians although he has played for the England U20 team and also won the World Cup last year.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
