Otti, Ogah, others reject Abia guber result

The governorship candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, Alex Otti and Uche Ogah, have jointly rejected the result of Saturday, March 9, poll. The two front line candidates in the election alleged at a joint press conference in Umuahia on Sunday that “the results were highly tampered with in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).” They therefore called for the total cancellation of the results, saying that they would be ready for a repeat poll as may be ordered by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC). Kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has congratulated the governor-elect, Alhaji Abdulrasak Abdulrahman after he was declared the winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, March 9. The community of Nigerian writers, scholars and journalists announces with great shock and sadness the sudden and painful passing of our friend, colleague and brother, Professor Pius Adesanmi, who was aboard the Ethiopia Airlines Airbus 737 MAX 8 that crashed on the morning of Sunday, March 10, in Addis Ababa. He was en route Nairobi as a participant at the ECOSOCC Meeting organised by the African Union. Pius Adesanmi was born in Isanlu, in Yagba East local government area of Kogi state, Nigeria. He took a BA (First Class Honours) from the University of Ilorin in 1992, then a Masters in French from the University of Ibadan in 1998, and a PhD in French Studies from the University of British Columbia in 2002.
