Man City star suffers horror tackle in Germany's friendly with Serbia

- Leroy Sane cropped an injury after a tackle from Milan Pavkov in Germany's friendly with Serbia.

- Pavkov was shown a straight red card for the career-threatening tackle on the Man City ace

- Sane suffered similar horror tackle from Cardiff City's Joe Bennet in 2018

Leroy Sane suffered a horrifying ankle injury following a career-threatening tackle from Milan Pavkov during Germany's friendly with Serbia.

The Mirror claim the Man City forward was fouled in the injury-time while dribbling through a crowd of players before he was brought down by Red Star Belgrade forward Pavkov

Pavlov’s horror tackle landed on Sane’s ankle and left the German wriggling on the ground.

Match referee Bobby Madden wasted no time in handing Pavkov a straight red card for the unprofessional foul as Sane wriggled in pain.

The German could not continue the contest and was eventually substituted after receiving initial treatment on the field of play.

The tackle share resemblance with Cardiff City's Joe Bennet horror tackle on Sane in 2018.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola pleaded to referees for more protection for players after the FA Cup game.

"For football in general players are the artists. The only thing they can do is protect them," Guardiola said.

"Referees have to protect - not just mine, all players. Sane will be out for a while. Maybe two or three weeks, or a month, we will see tomorrow. It's his ankle.

"I know my players, because it's not just one, there was many. They decided to play in that way. There is one man who has to decide what is correct and what is incorrect. If he doesn't anything can happen," Guardiola submitted.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Mesut Ozil reportedly handed his shirt to Leroy Sane at half time during his side's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in Sunday's Premier League clash at the Etihad.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup winning star was an unused substitute in their 3-1 defeat to the Citizens in Sunday's EPL clash at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero scored all three goals for the hosts to help his side cut Liverpool's leadership on the log to two points pending the Reds West Ham clash on Monday night.
