Just In: Garrison commander allegedly killed as gunmen reportedly attack Bauchi

- One Col Mohammed Barrack has reportedly been killed by unknown gunmen

- The commander was riding on a motorcycle was he was shot and killed

- The incident has raised panic in Bauchi state

Suspected gunmen have reportedly killed the garrison commander of 33 Artillery Brigade of Nigerian Army in Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi Col. Mohammed Barack.

According to Punch Newspaper, the incident which took place on Bauchi – Jos Road has raised panic in the state.

The deceased was reportedly riding a power bike from Kaduna when he was attacked.

A source confirmed the attack confirming that the garrison commander was riding his motorcycle from Kaduna when he was killed.

Meanwhile, the killing of 17 people during two different attacks by armed bandits in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state was confirmed by Kaduna state police.

Ahmad Abdurahman, state commissioner of police, said he undertook aerial surveillance of Birnin Gwari and Kajuru local government areas to assess the security situation in the areas, Channels TV reports.

Abdurahman said the suspected armed bandits ambushed a group of vigilantes who were returning from Zamfara state from a function at Hayin Gada village along Dogon Dawa road in Birnin Gwari.

Legit.ng earlier reported that no less than 66 people in Kajuru LGA died in killings by gunmen on Friday, February 15, a day before the postponed presidential election.

Among the victims are 22 children and 12 women while four wounded persons were said to have been rescued by security agents who were alerted of the attacks.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
