Italian football club suffer 20-0 defeat to opponent as physiotherapist is asked to play

- Pro Piacenza suffered a humiliating 20-0 thrashing from hosts Cuneo on Sunday

- The Serie C outfit were forced to play the game to avoid outright expulsion from Serie C

- Pro Piacenza could only field six youth-team squad members alongside physiotherapist in their starting line-up

Italian Serie C outfit Pro Piacenza suffered an embarrassing 20-0 bashing from hosts Cuneo on Sunday after fielding only seven players at kick-off.

According to reports, Pro Piacenza were set to close shop over backlog of unpaid wages and entitlements, but were forced to play the game to avoid outright expulsion from Serie C after fourth of their previous fixtures were postponed.

Thus they had limited option by naming six youth-team squad members alongside a physiotherapist in their starting line-up after a youth-team players forgot his ID at home.

An 18-year-old, Cirigliano, was handed double responsibility after being named as captain and coach in the absence of team’s technical crew, who along other players were allegedly missing in action after they have not received their salaries since August 2018.

Local media channel Sport Piacenza revealed that Cuneo, who could only net 18 times in their previous 24 fixtures in Serie C this term, led 16-0 at the end of the first stanza with forward Hicham Kanis scoring double hat-trick.

Afterwards Sport Piacenza opted to end its live broadcast after 180 seconds into the contest.

“We refuse to continue the live match report. We postpone the appointment with our readers until the end of this farce, when we communicate the final result,” a release from Sport Piacenza read in part.

Interestingly, Pro Piacenza currently are bottom of the Serie C log with eight points from 20 matches, having suffered eight points deducted.

At the moment, they have participated in seven games less than second-bottom Arzachena, who have garnered 20 points so far.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
