2019: Atiku reacts to Bureau of Statistics report on unemployment, tackles Buhari again

- The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari on economy

- Atiku, speaking in Aba, said lack of prerequisite knowledge about economy by Buhari's team is what has put the nation in mess

- He also lamented the recent Bureau of Statistics report saying over 20 million Nigerians have lost their jobs

The presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has laughed off the competence of President Muhammadu Buhari's economic team, adding that their lack of prerequisite knowledge about economy has put the sector on downhill.

The Punch reports that Atiku, who stated this on Wednesday, December 20, during a town hall meeting in Aba, promised to use his wealth of experience to bring the country's economic back on track.

Legit.ng gathers that Atiku, addressing his supporters, said his presence is to motivate youth in the area and commend them for their role in the development of economy.

He said: “I am aware of your challenges because I am a businessman like you. Whatever that is your pain is also my pain. I face the same challenges you are facing, but the only thing we can do to change the situation is to change the government in power now.

“This present government lacks the understanding and the capacity to turn our economy around, nor promote the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

“We would ensure that policies that would encourage businesses to thrive in Nigeria are put in place.”

Earlier, Atiku had reacted to the recent report of Bureau of Statistics which claimed that 20.93 million Nigerians had lost their jobs under Buhari-led administration,

In a statement by his media aide, Paul Ibe, the PDP stalwart described the situation as terrible and catastrophic.

He said: "We expected a terrible job report, particularly with the comment on live television from the president’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, that President Buhari had ordered the statistician-general of the federation, Yemi Kale, to fudge the latest job reports.

“However, the job report released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday, November 19, 2018, is not just terrible, it is catastrophic. It shows that under the APC administration, a whopping 20.93m Nigerians have lost their jobs!

“To put this in perspective, the unemployed population in Nigeria is now twice the population of Benin Republic!”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Atiku Abubakar, had lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that the latter had never run a successful business in his life.

Atiku, in a statement released by his media office on Tuesday, October 9, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) was now in a “state of panic and confusion,” following the PDP’s free and fair presidential primary.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo.
