BREAKING: Despite Allegations Of Human Rights Abuses, Buhari Nominates Buratai, Other Sacked Military Chiefs As Ambassadors

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated the newly retired service chiefs as non-career ambassadors-designate. In a letter to the senate, Buhari said: “In accordance with section 171 (1), (2) (c) & sub-section (4) of 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the under-listed five (5) names of nominees as Non-Career Ambassadors-Designate. “The nominees are: Gen Abayomi G. Olonisakin (Rtd ), Lt Gen Tukur Y. Buratai (Rtd), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Rtd), and Air Vice Marshal Mohammed S. Usman (Rtd).” The President urged the Senate to give expeditious consideration to the nominations. BREAKING: Buhari Violates New Police Act, Extends IGP Adamu’s Tenure For 3 months

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu for three months. The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said that the decision of the President to extend the IGP’s tenure for another three months was to give time for proper selection of the new helmsman. This, however, would be contrary to the provisions of the Police Act 2020, which in Section 7 (6) fixes a single term of four years without an option of extension of tenure for the holder of the office of the Inspector-General of Police. “A person appointed to the office of the Inspector-General of Police shall hold office for four years,” it read. Fashion Designer Convicted For Cybercrime In Ibadan

The Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, secured the conviction of one Oyelakin Babatunde who was sentenced to four months of community service for cheating.  He was sentenced by Justice Omolara Adeyemi of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State.  The 32-year-old, who claims to be a fashion designer, was arrested in September 2020.  He allegedly obtained money by false pretence from unsuspecting foreigners through Amazon and iTunes gift cards as well as Western Union and MoneyGram money transfers.  Oyelakin’s offence contravenes Section 421 of the Criminal Code cap 38, laws of Oyo State, 2000 and punishable under the same section. Oyelakin pleaded guilty to one count brought against him by the EFCC. Armed Robbers Ambush Ekiti Government Officials, Snatch N20m

Governor Kayode Fayemi Six gunmen on Wednesday attacked some accountants attached to the Cabinet Department of the Ekiti State Governor’s Office, snatching N20m from them, the Nation reports. The attackers reportedly ambushed the officials who were returning from a bank at Government Secretariat Road, Ado-Ekiti, where they withdrew the money. An eyewitness alleged that the gunmen shot into the air before robbing the officials. He said, “The officials were paymasters and accountants attached to the Cabinet Department of the Governor’s Office.
