Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.  IGP Mohammed Adamu Members of the National Association of Nigerians Students, South-West Zone D, had given the Nigerian Government five days ultimatum, which expires on Sunday, to reverse the hike in the prices of petrol and electricity tariff. A physiotherapist at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State, Atiku Tijjani Shu’aibu Ringim, has been stabbed to death by a gang of mobile phone thieves in the city. The gang stabbed Ringim to death around 10:00pm on Saturday while he made his way across a part of the city notorious for such incidents. Kano is witnessing a spike in gang crimes particularly mobile phone snatching, raising fears among residents. As evacuation flights begin air-lifting Nigerian ladies trapped in Saudi Arabia, the trafficked victims affected have asked the Nigerian Government to wave the COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction repeat test fee.  The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control announced on Wednesday that anyone travelling into the country would have to show a negative PCR test done 96 hours before departure.  They would also be expected to make an online payment of around N50,000 for a repeat test to be conducted in Nigeria. Speaking on behalf of the ladies, one of the Nigerians behind the evacuation plan, Alade Abdulaziz, said most of the girls returning to the country hoped to leave since early August. He said they had all done COVID-19 tests before coming to Jeddah from different parts of the kingdom to embark on a return journey back home. The African Action Congress, Ondo State Chapter, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent fire outbreak at the commission’s office in Ondo State. The fire outbreak at INEC’s office on Thursday night burnt about 5,000 smart card readers meant to be used for the October 10 governorship election in the state. Reacting to the incidence, the AAC berated the electoral commission “on the poor management of multimillion naira facilities of the Nigerian people in their care”, adding that INEC must ensure the governorship election was free, fair and credible.  “How will INEC justify as mere coincidence that materials of such value and importance in the election, which is peculiar to the credibility of votes, got conflagated just a month to the governorship election, despite the fact that the materials have been at the location for a period of time,” the AAC questioned.
