Nigerian Army Cautions Soldiers Over Alleged Killings Of DSS Operatives By IPOB Members, Directs Them To Wear Mufti In Public

Following the alleged killings of two operatives of the Department of State Services by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra in Enugu State, Nigerian Army authority has directed troops on internal security duties to be cautious in their dealings with members of the public. Members of the group were meeting peacefully when police officers arrived the scene to arrest them. Fire Guts Access Bank In Lagos

Tragedy struck in Lagos State on Wednesday when fire gutted a branch of Access Bank on Ademola Adetokunbo Street in Victoria Island, Lagos. The cause of the fire incident is yet to be ascertained. Ex-Nigerian Minister, Fani-Kayode, Apologises For Calling Journalist ‘Stupid’

A former Minister of Aviation in Nigeria, Femi Fani-Kayode, has apologised for referring to a Daily Trust journalist, Eyo Charles, as “stupid”. SaharaReporters had on Tuesday reported how Fani-Kayode insulted Charles for asking him if his recent trips across the country were being sponsored during a press conference in Calabar, Cross Rivers State. “I could see from your face before you got here, how stupid you are. Don’t ever talk to me like that,” the former minister yelled at the reporter. But in a series of tweets on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode said he regretted his action, which had made him offend many of his friends in the media. Mali Suspended From Francophone Organisation

The international community has increased pressure on the military junta that seized power in Mali as the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie suspended the country from its membership,  AFP reports. Its leadership agreed that it would maintain any cooperation that helps the civilian population and a transition to democracy. The decision came a day after envoys from ECOWAS and the new military leaders said they had failed to agree on a timetable to return Mali to democratic rule. The OIF also called for the liberation of the ousted President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who stepped down from power last week after the military revolt, saying he wanted to avoid bloodshed. They called for the establishment, as soon as possible, of “a transition government led by a civilian authority”.  The OIF said it would be sending a high-delegation to Mali in the coming days.
