Obioma urged schools and examination candidates to register before the deadline date, noting that there would be no further extension once the registration is closed.

“The National Examinations Council wishes to remind all stakeholders and the general public that the deadline for the registration of schools and examination candidates for the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) is Thursday, Sept. 10. of the deadline as approved by the Federal Ministry of Education,”the registrar stated.

He said the decision not to extend the deadline for registration was in accordance with the dictates of the federal ministry of education, the Sun newspaper reported.

Obioma stated that the non-extension would enable NECO to put the required logistics in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams.

Meanwhile, two days after the announcement of the resumption date for all schools in Lagos state, the Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) unit of the state ministry of education has warned the public to disregard a resumption time table flying around on the social media.
The Nation reported that the time-table claimed to be the 2020/2021 academic calendar, stated that the first term of the session would start September 21, 2020 and end December 18, 2020.

However, a statement by the public affairs officer, OEQA, Emmanuel Olaniran, said the calendar did not come from its office.

In another news, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, the vice-chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), has disclosed how students in the institution will resume following state government’s new directives on school reopening.
According to Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, both primary and secondary schools would tentatively be reopened on Monday, September 21.

In a subsequent development, LASU VC, Prof Fagbohun, on Monday, August 31, said students will resume in batches beginning from September.
