DCLM Daily Manna – Godly Wisdom Pays

DCLM Daily MannaTopic: Godly Wisdom Pays [DCLM Daily Manna 14 August 2019 Daily Devotional By Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Isaiah 19:11-19 (KJV)

11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.

14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

16 In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.

Key Verse: “In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD” (Isaiah 19:19).

MESSAGE:

It has rightly been asserted that in times of crisis, the wise build bridges while the foolish build barriers. The Scriptures rightly teach that the preaching of the Cross is foolishness to them that perish but the power of God unto salvation to those who are saved.

Prophet Isaiah spoke about the impending judgment of God on Egypt. He predicted the failure of Egyptian wisdom and culture. Specifically, Isaiah gives some prophecies to be fulfilled when God’s judgment would come on Egypt. The Egyptians would fear Judah when they realise their judgment had come from God; and after a time of hardship and suffering, some people would worship the Lord and build altars to honour God. Thus, the prophet saw a day when Egypt would be converted to the knowledge of the Lord. “That day” refers to end-time events associated with the Great Tribulation and Christ’s Millennium reign on earth. During the Great Tribulation, the inhabitants of the earth will face the fury of God through the Antichrist while in the Millennium reign, all would worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

To escape the danger of hell and the evil reign of the Antichrist, it is godly wisdom to turn away from worldly wisdom that exalts entertainment, pride, promiscuity, permissiveness, mammon, idolatry, cruelty, and all shades of sin; and return to the narrow way of the cross that leads home. Total surrender to Christ today guarantees complete freedom from sin and its consequences. Therefore, godly wisdom teaches us that the controlling factor of all of life should be the fear of God and submission to His word.

Thought For The Day: The wise does at once what the fool does at last.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
