DCLM Daily Manna – Faith Exemplified

DCLM Daily MannaTopic: Faith Exemplified [DCLM Daily Manna 21 August 2019 Daily Devotional By Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Hebrews 11:1-3 (KJV)

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Key Verse: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

MESSAGE:

The Rothschild family is a wealthy Jewish family. Their father Rothschild laid the foundation of his fortune because he heard the news that the battle of Waterloo had been won a day before anyone else in Britain. The fact enabled him to buy up all the depressed money issues which arose as soon as the news became public. It was faith that prompted him to act faster than any other person thereby making the Rothschild family the wealthiest in the world at that time.

Our passage today deals with just three verses exemplifying what faith is. Faith is the demonstration of things not seen. It is by faith that the Spirit of God witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God after our sins have been forgiven and blotted out. Faith in Christ brings pardon. When this happens, a person has the fullest conviction of the truth and reality of God’s blessings. Though not seen by the eye, they are felt by the heart, and such a person has no more doubt of God’s approbation.

We do not see God or heaven; neither do we see the redeemed in glory or the crowns that await us. But we believe and have faith in them and this leads us to act as if we can see them. As Christians, who believe what God says and have the assurance that since He has spoken those things, they are as He said.

The most important thing is to show confidence in God’s sustaining power, most importantly, in times of trial and to act in view of the promises. We must pray earnestly to develop our faith to the extent that we have no iota of doubt concerning any aspect of the Word. We must “let the word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16). When we have faith in the word of God, nothing shall be impossible for us.

Thought For The Day: Believers must perceive with the eyes of faith.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
