Zamfara residents reportedly kill 7 suspected bandits outside emir’s palace

- Residents of Birnin Magaji reportedly attacked some bandits who came to the Emir's palace

- The bandits had come for a peace talk and to also recover their seized cows

- An SSS official was also attacked but only sustained injuries

Seven suspected bandits have reportedly been killed by residents of Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara state after they reportedly visited the emery for peace talk.

According to Premium Times, the incident happened on Wednesday, May 1.

An airstrike on their base in Birnin Magaji forest by the Nigerian Air Force displaced the bandits.

It was reported that their cows which were suspected to be rustled were confiscated.and kept at the emir’s palace in Birnin Magaji. However, early last week, the cattle were taken to Gusau, the state capital.

Seven of the bandits and an official of the State Security Service (SSS) came to the emir’s palace to plead for the release of the cows.

The emir, Husseini Dan-Ali, was in Kaduna when the suspected bandits came and his secretary, Muhammadu Mai-inji, had a meeting with them.

Residents however got wind of the meeting and reportedly laid siege for the suspected bandits and lynched them after they came out of the palace from the meeting.

The suspected SSS official was rescued by soldiers, although he sustained severe injuries.

Meanwhile, the acting inspector general of police Mohammed Adamu ordered the immediate redeployment of the Commissioner of Police in charge of Kaduna state Command, Mr Ahmed Abdulrahaman to the Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja.

A statement by the Force spokesman, Frank Mba, a Deputy Commissioner of Police on Wednesday in Abuja, said Mr Aji Janga would take over as the commissioner in Kaduna.

Janga was until now the commissioner of police in charge of Bauchi State command.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
