A suspect in the kidnap of Hajiya Hauwa Yusu, the mother-in-law of the Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, has been arrested.
Twenty three year old, Abubakar M. Sani popularly known as Kubi said he received N2.5 million out of the N30 million ransom his gang members collected as ransom for the release of Hajiya.
Speaking during his parade by the police on Monday, May 20, Kiubi of Sokoto Rima Quarters in Katsina said after the operation the victim was traded to another group of bandits who operated at Batsari Forest.
“Of the 30 m paid as ransom, I was paid N2.5m, while my two friends received N2m each,” he added. h the Katsina state governor.
“I never knew who she was. I was passing around the area and saw people sharing political souvenirs.
“When we executed the operation, one of our friends has contacts in the forest where we took her and handed her over to them.
“Of the 30 million paid as ransom, I was paid N2.5 million, while my two friends received N2 million each,” Kubi added.
Also speaking, the Katsina state's commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, noted that Abubakar Dani alias Dan Bose of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina; Rabe Hamza alias Tankabaje of Nasarawa Bugaje, Jibia; Marwana Gide of Yar-Maiwa village and Abdulhakim Bishir alias Danruma of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters in Katsina as members of the team that carried out the operation.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that 80-year-old Hajiya was finally released by her abductors after eight days in captivity.
The spokesman of Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah, said she was released hale and hearty and has since reunited with her family after necessary medical checkups.

Prior to her release, the police had said they were following on a lead and trailing a suspect in connection to the abduction.
Hajiya was kidnapped from her residence, located at Dandume crescent in Katsina Layout of the metropolis, on Friday, March 8.
