Tell Buhari killing is too much in his state - Emir of Katsina cries to minister

- The menace of insecurity in Katsina is becoming unbearable both to traditional rulers and residents in the state

- In response to this, the emir of the state, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has cried out to the minister of of agriculture, Audu Ogbe, for help from the presidency

- Usman pleaded to Ogbe to inform President Muhammadu Buhari that farmers and herders have abandoned the farms following widespread insecurity

Following the recurrence of killing and kidnapping in Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, the emir of the state on Monday, May 6, called on Audu Ogbe, the minister of agriculture, to inform President Muhammadu Buhari that farmers and herders have abandoned their farms and herds for safety.

The emir's call came when Ogbe and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)'s governor, Godwin Emefiele, paid him a visit at his palace, Daily Trust reports.

Usman said: “Hon Minister, tell the president that we have to take very good care of our people, security first. All these programmes, as good as they are, cannot be without security. Security is first and fundamental."

In his plea to the minister, the emir said: “Every day I receive reports of kidnapping and killings from district and village heads.” The emir alleged that those behind the tragic experiences in the state include government officials, politicians and key some personalities.

He added: “What are you to gain by killing, kidnapping people? It’s very unfortunate. I have not seen this kind of country; how do we live like animals? Three days ago Magajin Gari (of Daura emirate council) was abducted, nobody is safe now, whether in your house or road, wherever you are.

“What we want you to do for us is to stop the fight. Many people have deserted, abandoned their farms in fear of kidnapping and killings and other atrocities, it’s very unfortunate.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that in his plea to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammed Adamu, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina said that some parts of the state had been taken over by bandits and kidnappers.

Speaking on Wednesday, April 10, through his deputy, Mannir Yakubu, Governor Masari said: “These bandits strike at will, maim at will, destroy lives and property at will."

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
