- Ardo said the Emirates were created from the time of Shehu Uthman Dan Fodio and should not be balkanized

A former lecturer and renowned historian, Umar Ardo, has called on the Sultan of Sokoto and other Muslim faithfuls to resist the creation of four new emirates by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state.

Ardo said the creation of additional emirates in Kano state will destroy the caliphate.

He also accused the royal house of aiding and abetting the governor in his actions against the Kano caliphate.

Vanguard reports that Ardo while speaking during an interview over the weekend said the Emirates were created from the time of Shehu Uthman Dan Fodio and should not be balkanized.

“The Sultan, all members of the caliphate, the Muslim ummah and the Fulbe people should not only condemn it but should stand against it.

“The Emirates have already been created from the time of Shehu Uthman Dan Fodio. And if you now start balkanizing them, you are just reducing the prestige and effectiveness of the emirate system. It is the caliphate establishment that is the loser," Ardo said.

Ardo accusing Governor Ganduje of exploiting the royal house against Emir Muhammad Sanusi said the people are destroying the system of which they hope to one day benefit from.

"Some of the members of the caliphate establishment are themselves, instigators of the problem, because they are not in good terms with their cousins who are on the throne.

They are forgetting that they are destroying the system of which they hope to one day benefit from. They are in fact benefitting from it because you do not have to be an emir to benefit from the emirate establishment," Ardo added.

He also warned that Emir Sanusi has done nothing wrong but was only been victimised for his outspokenness.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the people of Wudil community s in Kano state have declared their loyalty to the state and not Gaya emirate as listed in the newly passed emirates law.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
