- The senator was said to have stated that he saw no future in the PDP, added that he would be joining his son, Moyosore, in the APC within the next 30 days

- Ogunlewe has denied the reports saying he is still a member of the PDP

A former minister of works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has denied media reports tht he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos.

While reports had gone viral about his defection on Friday,May 3, the senator told Daily Trust that he remained in PDP, saying the report that he had dumped the party was not true.

Speculations had been rife in Lagos PDP that Ogunlewe might be on his way out following his seemingly intractable friction with the leadership of the party.

Ogunlewe had opposed the appointment of the present state chairman, Dr. Adegbola Dominic, after the resignation of the former chairman, Mashood Salvador.

He also, during the electioneering of the party for the just concluded 2019 elections, criticised the management of the campaign council of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the governorship running mate to Mr. Jimi Agbaje.

His son, Moyosore, who was the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Kosofe I Constituency, recently resigned his membership of the PDP and joined the ruling APC.

When contacted, Ogunlewe, however debunked the report of his defection, saying it was not true.

But, he warned that the party was bedeviled with many crises which if not urgently resolved could spark exodus of people from the party.

He also challenged the legitimacy of the present state executive led by Dr. Dominic.

Meanwhile, the Lagos chapter of the PDP on Friday, May 3, declared that Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, does not have electoral value.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
