Saraki donates 2 generators to Kamaldeen University

- The Senate President on Sunday, May 12, also flagged-off the rehabilitation of some township roads in some areas in Kwara state

Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has donated two 500KVA Mikano generators to the proposed Muhammad Kamaldeen University, Ogidi, Ilorin.

The proposed university is owned by Ansar Islam Society of Nigeria, Leadership reports.

The power generating sets which were presented to officials of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria by the director-general of ABS Mandate constituency office, Ilorin, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi.

It formed part of N500 million projects that Saraki promised to facilitate to the institution to hasten its take off.

The Senate President had commenced the construction of a standard clinic at the university’s site while he had equally delivered all the furniture needed for the takeoff of the institution.

Similarly, the Senate President on Sunday, May 12, flagged-off the rehabilitation of some township roads in Omu-Aran, Irepodun local government area of Kwara state.

While flagging off the rehabilitation of Omu-Aran township roads in Kwara south, Saraki, represented by his deputy chief of staff, Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola, said the road project was in fulfillment of his promise to the people of the community.

The Senate President had in April 2018 hinted of the planned rehabilitation of the roads in his message at the funeral outing and thanksgiving of the late Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye, adding that the road project had already been captured and approved in the 2018 appropriation bill.

He said the approval under the federal government road intervention initiative was facilitated by his office as part of efforts toward boosting trading and commercial activities, especially at the grassroots.

He, therefore, urged the people to give the construction team the desired maximum cooperation in order to ensure the speedy completion of the project.

Meanwhile, a former deputy national publicity secretary to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has described the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) response to Saraki as “laughable.”

Saraki had dismissed the anti-graft body’s latest investigation of his tenure as governor of Kwara state between 2003 - 2011 as a direct witch-hunt against his person, while the EFCC replied by saying that the probe was launched in public interest and the personal good of the Senate President.

Comrade Frank in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Wednesday, May 7, described the move by EFCC to again comb the books of the Kwara state government as “another round of evidence shopping by the anti-graft body to enable it commence another circus trial,” adding that it will, “collapse like a park of cards at the end of the day.”
