Ramadan: Sharia police confiscates 100 alcoholic drinks in Jigawa

- 21 people have been arrested in the Hisbah command in Jigawa

- The board said the arrest was made following a raid in a beer parkour in the state

- 14 women were also arrested for engaging in commercial sex work

The Jigawa state command of Hisbah has reportedly arrested 14 commercial sex workers and also confiscated 100 alcoholic drinks.

Daily Trust reports that the Sharia police made this arrests in Kazaure, the headquarters of Kazaure local government area of the state.

Ibrahim Dahiru who is the commander of Hisbah in Jigawa state revealed this on Monday, May 20.

He said seven men were also arrested which brought the total number of arrests to 21.

The Hsbah commander said the arrest was carried out following a raid at the popular Gadar Kazaure beer parlour.

He said: “14 suspected commercial sex workers and seven men were arrested. The suspects were arrested for alleged immorality in the area.”

He added that after the completion of investigation, the suspects were arraigned in Kazaure.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported Nabahani Usman who is the commander-general of the Kano Hisbah said that his men will arrest adults caught eating in public during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

The Hisbah boss said those arrested will only be released when they can provide proof of illness via a medical report from a doctor that exempts such persons from fasting.

Usman said even with the exemption letter, the person will be warned not to repeat such before being released.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
