A first set of photographs published late Thursday, May 16 by the National Hajj Commission (NHC) showed President Muhammadu Buhari arriving Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj, also called Umrah.
Buhari was received by a crowd of people with security operatives making efforts to control the situation.
The lesser hajj is a part of the Islamic rights and carried out during Ramadan.

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari accepted the invitation of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to carry out the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) in the kingdom.
According to the personal assistant to the presidency, Bashir Ahmad, Buhari will be accompanied by close personal aides as he embarks on the journey on Thursday, May 16.
The report said the president is expected back in the country on Tuesday, May 21.
It also reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, May 16, departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for Saudi Arabia.

The presidential aircraft conveying the president and members of his entourage took-off from the airport at about 11am.
Those at the airport to bid the president `bye-bye’ included his Chief of Staff Malam Abba Kyari, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), acting Inspector General of Police Muhammed Adamu and other government officials.
