Osinbajo says Buhari is concerned about welfare of the common man

- The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the APC administration is concerned about the interest of the common man

- Osinbajo states that the Buhari administration introduced social investment programmes to ameliorate the challenges of poverty and unemployment faced by people

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is concerned about the welfare of the poor and interested in how to make his life better for them.

Osinbajo made the statement on Saturday, May 11, during his one day working visit to Bauchi state where he commissioned some projects, Daily Trust reports.

Among some of the projects commissioned by the vice president during his visit include the Bauchi state Health Contributory Scheme (BSHCS) and the Bauchi Health Trust Fund offices among other projects.

He told the people of the state that Buhari introduced Social Investment Programmes (SIPs) to ameliorate the challenges of poverty and unemployment because of his concerns for the Nigerien people.

“Our administration’s priority is the welfare of the common man. President Buhari has always been concerned about the poor and how the government will make his life better,” he said.

Osinbajo commended the people of Bauchi state for embracing the Social Investment Programmes (SIPs) components in the state.

In another report, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has dismissed repeated insinuation that the Trader Moni scheme is a form of vote buying.

Osinbajo said this through Laolu Akande, his spokesperson, in response to Odilim Enweagbara, an economist and entrepreneur, who insisted the scheme was to curry support from Nigerians for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) towards the 2019 general election.

The vice president noted that the scheme was geared towards empowering over 30 million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with interest-free, collateral-free loans.
