Okorocha lists what Ihedioha should do with N42.5bn he left for Imo

- The Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has said that he left N42.5 billion in the state's coffers

- The governor also listed how the money should be spent by the incoming governor of Imo state

- According to Okorocha, he will set up a subcommittee to ensure that the money is well utilised even after he has left office

Governor Rochas Okorocha has assured Imo people that he is leaving in the coffers of the state enough funds for incoming governor, Emeka Ihedioha to work with.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okorocha disclosed this while swearing in new permanent secretaries, a new accountant general and a new head of service at the Government House, Owerri on Monday, May 27.

He said that the sum of N42.5 billion had been kept so that the in-coming administration would not experience financial setbacks.

According to him, N8.1 billion has been set aside for payment of salaries and for capital projects, while the sum of N5.2 billion has been earmarked for payment of pension arrears.

He also stated that N7.6 billion had been set aside for renovation of schools across the state and N21.6 billion for the construction of rural roads.

Addressing the new permanent secretaries, the governor advised them to do their best to reposition the civil service in the state, protect the integrity of the state, and to shun corruption.

In his words: “My government has kept aside a total of N4.5b for the in-coming government, and for that reason, I will set up a sub-committee to make sure that the projects they are attached to, come to fruition even when I am out of office because government is a continuum.”

“I, therefore, charge you to serve our dear state with all your might just as I have.”

The new head of service is Ngozi Eluma, while the permanent secretaries are: Mr Donald Igbo, who will double as accountant general; Mrs Edith Ekenze, Mr Elias Anyanwu, and Mr Justus Oguoma.

Others are Mr Reginald Oguike, Mr Benjamin Nnamadu, Mrs Patricia Atuechi Elebiri, Mr George Ejiogu, Mrs Patricia Uche Ezeonyeachi, Mrs Ngozi Bernadine, and Mrs Meg Obi.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Okorocha had vowed that he will become the president of the Nigeria in future.

Governor Okorocha made the statement on Sunday, May 26 during his valedictory thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Owerri.

He said his current political travails, particularly the seizure of his Certificate of Return as the Imo west senator-elect, were only strengthening him for the presidential seat.
