Nigerian-born Premier League prospect blinded after being poured dangerous substance

- Tega Agberhiere has spoken from his hospital bed since he was poured a harsh chemical substance

- The 17-year-old and two other of his friends were assaulted by unknown persons living him battling for his eyesight

- Agberhiere was a former Tottenham and Crystal Palace academy star and has played for the Irish U-15 and 16 teams

Tega Agberhiere has spoken out after suffering a life altering facial injuries following a horrible acid attack.

The 17-year-old was left fighting for his eyesight after he was targeted in an attack in Ireland in the past week.

Agberhiere, who played in Tottenham and Crystal Palace academy, went out with two of his friends, one being a footballer called Padraig Sullivan, when he was singled out.

After the attack, Agberhiere was left blinded initially but his vision is expected to return to normal.

He also suffered severe burns to his face, eyes and thighs - which led to intense agony.

Agberhiere and his two other friends were all rushed to University Hospital Waterford before he was transferred to Cork due to the horrific nature of the damage.

Agberhiere told WLR FM: “I should be able to see, my vision will be able to get to how it was before soon.”

Asked about the pain levels, he responded: “I can’t describe it. When I got here I thought I’d never be able to see again.

“I 100% thought I’d never be able to see another thing in my life.”

“I’m just grateful for everyone who’s texted and been messaging me and saying nice things, it’s helping me get through everything.

“Every day I’m getting better with all the messages I’m getting. I’m just grateful for them, I want to say thanks.”

According to British news media outlet Daily Star, four boys in their late teens were arrested in connection to the incident but were released without charge.

Agberhiere who had trials with two Premier League London clubs Palace and Spurs, has played for Ireland’s under 15 and 16 sides.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Nura Abdullahi has been forced to into early retirement from football because of a heart problem and he is currently in talks with Roma over his contract.

In March, the Serie A club advised the 21-year-old to quit the game for 30 days after undergoing some cardiological tests at the club.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
