According to him, the president was briefed on what had happened with emphasis on the proliferation of small arms and what the various agencies were doing to curtail the situation.

Leadership quotes Ibas as saying: “He (president) has also given directives that the agencies should do more to ensure that Nigerians go to bed and wake up feeling healthy and confident that their security is guaranteed.”

The CNS further said there had been a remarkable drop in the number of kidnappings across the country.

He also said that the security situation in the country had also improved.

“You will recall during the last meeting, the inspector-general (IG) was directed to ensure the safety of the citizens and consequently, various operations were set up; ‘Puff Adder’ was one of the strategies.

“With the setting up of that operations, there have been a remarkable drop in the number of kidnappings," Ibas said.

He added that what normally would attract attention is when a key person in government perhaps is kidnapped.

"On the whole, the number of kidnappings has dropped and generally I think the security situation is improving,” Ibas said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari reacted to the current insecurity across various states in Nigeria saying kidnapping had become an occupation and industry for Nigerian youths.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
