Just in: Gunmen abduct OAU lecturer on Ife-Ibadan Road

- A lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has been abducted

- Professor Adegbehingbe was abducted by some gunmen in along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway

- Two people who were in the vehicle with the lecturer were abducted while the other passenger was said to be his wife

Some gunmen on Sunday, May 5, kidnapped a lecturer and staff of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Professor Adegbehingbe.

Vanguard reports that Adegbehingbe was kidnapped along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway.

It was gathered that Adegbehingbe was abducted near Ikire, few minutes to 9 pm while traveling to Ife.

Also, some other vehicles that were moving along the route when the incident happened were said to have to stopped because the gunmen wielding sophisticated weapons, partially blocked the road.

During the incident, two people who were in the vehicle with the lecturer were abducted, while the other passenger was said to be his wife.

Speaking on the matter, the director of media, Ooni of Ife Palace, Moses Olafare, said he received a call from an anonymous caller over the abduction.

Olafare said it was from the call that he discovered the kidnap victim works in Obafemi Awolowo University.

He also said that when he spoke to the wife of Professor Adegbehingbe, she was in a police station in Apomu to report the matter.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the commissioner of Police in Katsina state, Sanusi Buba, have relocated to Daura, the hometown of President Muhamadu Buhari.

Buba's relocation to the village followed the abduction of a district head in the area, Magajin Garin Daura, Musa Umar Uba.

The immediate family of the traditional ruler and the entire Daura Emirate Council are agitated over the actual motive behind his abduction and safety.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
