Imo is the only state where there’s free education from primary to university - Okorocha

- Rochas Okorocha has said that Imo state is the only state where one can get free education from primary school level to university

- The governor said in his eight years as governor, he went through a lot of troubles to develop Imo state

- Okorochas also apologised to all those he hurt while serving as a governor in Imo state

The governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that his state is the one in Nigeria where education is free from primary to university.

Speaking in Owerri, Imo state capital during a prayer meeting by Women of Divine Destiny Initiative, WODDI, organised by his wife, Okorocha said in his eight years as governor, he went through a lot of troubles to develop Imo state.

Okorocha said when he launched the "rescue mission" in Imo state in 2011 the state was in a situation begging for “true governance.”

Apologising to the people of Imo state especially those who he could have wronged during his eight years in office, Okorocha said developing Imo is a huge task.

“I must confess to you that we have gone through a lot of troubles and opposition to get to where we are today. Today, the entire landscape of Imo is dotted with landmark and verifiable projects which are there for all to see.

“The Rescue Mission Administration, knowing that education was the bedrock of our economic life, started and declared free education at the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions in order to attract our teaming children back into the classrooms.

“So, Imo State today is the only State where there’s free education from Primary, Secondary to the University. As a result of this development, Imo State has continued to hold the ace in the enrolment of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board ,JAMB, in Nigeria for Seven years running now," Okorocha said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Okorocha, had said that the people of the state misunderstood him and his style of leadership.

Okorocha said his also the most controversial governor Imo state has ever produced i the history of governance.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
