The governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that his state is the one in Nigeria where education is free from primary to university.

Speaking in Owerri, Imo state capital during a prayer meeting by Women of Divine Destiny Initiative, WODDI, organised by his wife, Okorocha said in his eight years as governor, he went through a lot of troubles to develop Imo state.

Okorocha said when he launched the "rescue mission" in Imo state in 2011 the state was in a situation begging for “true governance.”

Apologising to the people of Imo state especially those who he could have wronged during his eight years in office, Okorocha said developing Imo is a huge task.

“I must confess to you that we have gone through a lot of troubles and opposition to get to where we are today. Today, the entire landscape of Imo is dotted with landmark and verifiable projects which are there for all to see.

“The Rescue Mission Administration, knowing that education was the bedrock of our economic life, started and declared free education at the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions in order to attract our teaming children back into the classrooms.

“So, Imo State today is the only State where there’s free education from Primary, Secondary to the University. As a result of this development, Imo State has continued to hold the ace in the enrolment of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board ,JAMB, in Nigeria for Seven years running now," Okorocha said.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
