The All Progressives Congress aspirants’ forum, Kogi chapter, has rejected the candidature of Governor Yahaya Bello of the state for a second term in office over alleged bad leadership and non-performance.

It added that giving the ticket to Bello to run for a second term would be a risk, saying the party may loose the state to the opposition.

It said Bello had remained adamant in spite directives by President Buhari to all APC governors to reconcile and accommodate the party`s aspirants after the last primaries.

The statement alleged that Governor Bello had continued to treat Kogi aspirants as enemies and second class citizens in the party they laboured for.

It said the forum had therefore resolved to mobilise and support one of its members to contest the forthcoming primaries and the subsequent governorship election slated for November.

It added that after much deliberations and debate, the forum nominated three of its members which included: Alhaji Yahaya Audu, Chief Adedoyin, and Toyin Akanle for the contest.

The statement read: “At the end of the deliberations, Alhaji Yahaya Audu was unanimously endorsed to contest the forthcoming Kogi governorship election.” The forum also pledged unalloyed support for the President Buhari administration.

Recall Legit.ng reported that Senator Dino Melaye faulted claims by Governor Yahaya Bello that he would pay backlog of Kogi workers' salaries in December.

Speaking in a tweet on Saturday, May 18, Melaye accused Governor Bello of lying about his real intentions for the salaries of workers in the state.

The controversial lawmaker representing Kogi west senatorial district in the upper house of legislature mocked the governor in his reaction to the news report that the owed salaries would be paid up by the end of the year.
