Former Nigerian football star shot dead by armed robbers in his home

- Christian Jacob, who formerly represented Enyimba, was shot dead by armed robbers

- The former football star was said to have been shot in front of his house in Aba two days ago

- Police have however commenced investigation on the matter after depositing the body at an undisclosed mortuary

Former Enyimba international star Christian Jacob has reportedly been shot by suspected armed robbers on Wednesday, May 8.

The former player was said to have been killed outside of his house on Umuola road, Ogbor Hill, Aba.

According to Daily Trust, the police spokesperson in the state Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the death of the ex-player to News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday, May 9.

The publication quoting NAN further stated had been away for a while before resurfacing in Aba some days ago where he met his untimely death.

A source claims the information making rounds in social media that the deceased was killed by armed robbers was not true.

Adding that he was killed by suspected hired killers who shot him and went away without taking his phone or anything from him.

He also said that the death of Jacob, nicknamed “Nikita Ara” threw the people of the area into mourning because of his friendliness and popularity with the residents of the area.

Meanwhile, Ogbonna revealed that the police have commenced investigations into the matter adding that no arrest had been made, while confirming the corpse had been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian football family has been thrown into mourning after the death of former Flying Eagles star Collins Ebitimi.

The 54-year-old who was a legend as far as Nigerian Professional Football League is concerned was said to have slumped in front of his house in Ikorodu, Lagos on Wednesday, September 26.

Collins Ebitimi became famous in the Nigerian topflight football when he helped Stationery Stores of Lagos to win the Nigerian Premier League title in 1992.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
