Face your self-inflicted woes - PDP replies Lai Mohammed, FG

- The opposition party has condmened the recent remarks by the minister of information and culture

- The party said Lai Mohammed and the All progressives Congress (APC) veered off issues of governance and dwelt on hauling insults

- PDP's spokesperson Kola Ologbondiyan said the party is committed to the unity and stability of Nigeria which nurtured her democracy for 16 years

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the recent remark by the minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, that the opposition party is doing everything possible to sabotage the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The PDP in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Wednesday, May 15, said Mohammed and the All progressives Congress (APC) veered off issues of governance and dwelt on hauling insults, misplaced accusations and threats against the party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ologbondiyan said that Mohammed's tone betrays the frustration of a failed administration seeking excuses and scapegoats, instead of accepting its failures and self-inflicted woes.

Describing the PDP as a highly responsible political party, Ologbondiyan said the party is committed to the unity and stability of Nigeria which nurtured her democracy for 16 years.

He said it is unfortunate that the minister could suddenly recourse to making irresponsible allegations against the PDP and its presidential candidate instead of accepting their failures.

Ologbondiyan said: "As a party we consider it awkward for the APC and its government, under whose only four years tenure, our judiciary has been thoroughly embarrassed, to make frivolous allegations against our party and Presidential candidate."

"It is manifestly clear that the PDP and our Presidential candidate are in court to seek justice and the issues of bias raised by our party are in public domain and in the general interest of majority of Nigerians who gave their Presidential mandate to Atiku Abubakar.

The fact remains that the APC and its failed government owe it as a responsibility to be accountable to Nigerians; the PDP has a constitutional role to play in this accountability process and our party will not shy away from it," Ologbondiyan said.

The party further urged the federal government to stop inventing excuses and making frivolous allegations of treason for its mass failures.

He added that the expectation of Nigerians is for the Buhari Presidency to live up to the demands of their offices instead of blaming the opposition party for their self-inflicted woes.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the PDP had condemned the planned inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari's presidency on June 12.

The party said moving major events of its planned Presidential inauguration from May 29 to June 12, the democracy Day, cannot confer any form of legitimacy to the outcome of the rigged 2019 presidential election

Ologbodiyan, the party said inviting world leaders to the inauguration cannot also confer international recognition for a stolen mandate.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
