When the Kano state police spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi, was asked about the deployment, he said he was not aware of the police operation and would rather not make any comment about it.

I will find out from my superiors why police Mopol were deployed and communicate to you. As soon as I get details of the operation, I will get back to you," he said.

Daily Trust however stated that the security deployment may be connected with planned presentation of letters of appointment to the four new emirs by the state governor.

Meanwhile, Kano governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said he was not aware of the court order restraining him from creating additional emirates in the state and giving staff of office to new emirs.

The governor made this know on Saturday, May 11, while proceeding with the move to give letter of appointment to emirs of the newly created emirates at Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Kano state high court, in a judgement on Friday May 10, had granted an order restraining Ganduje from implementing the establishment of four more emirates.

Justice Nasiru Saminu, in a suit filed by one Rabiu Sule Gwarzo, gave an interim injunction directing all parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The Kano governor has, however, defied the court order and unveiled the names of the new emirs for Rano, Bichi, Gaya and Karaye

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
