Alex Ferguson believes Man United made mistake in appointing Solskjaer

- Alex Ferguson enjoyed a glittering career with Manchester United as manager

- His departure in 2013 however saw United crumble and lose their spark in the Premier League

- The Scotsman is now said to be disappointed by the club after being frozen out in key decision-making

Former Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, reportedly believes the club made a mistake appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager on permanent capacity.

Solskjaer was hired by Man United in December 2018 to replace Jose Mourinho and get the club back on track after a disappointing run.

The Norwegian hit the ground running with his former side, winning all his first eight games in charge, and guided the Red Devils to an unprecedented Champions League comeback over Paris Saint-Germain to reach the competition's quarter finals.

But since the 3-1 win over PSG in March, the Red Devils dipped in form and spirit, losing eight of their remaining 12 matches in all competitions.

Solskjaer was nevertheless handed the United job permanently, and has been tasked with the responsibility of restoring United's former glory.

However, the decision to name the Norwegian Mourinho's replacement is said not to have gone down well with Ferguson who believes United should have made an attempt of luring Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino to Old Trafford.

Ferguson is understood to be a huge admirer of Pochettino, meeting him privately for lunch at one time in 2016.

The Mail Online reports the former Scottish tactician is disappointed for being sidelined by United during key decision-making sessions.

"Sir Alex feels conflicted. He can see the irony that he still spends time thinking about United when he’s retired," a source close to Ferguson told Mail Online.

"But he loves the club and does feel a bit hurt that his opinion is never sought," the source added.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
