Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League giants Manchester United after receiving good offer from the Premier League side.

Manchester United and Barcelona are in the race to sign the 19-year-old Dutch professional footballer this summer.

De Ligt is currently one of the most talked about players in world football with his impressive displays for Ajax in the 2018/19 Champions League campaign.

He was superb for his club steering them to the semifinal of the Champions League before losing against Premier League side Tottenham.

According to the Telegraph, De Ligt wants to become the poster boy to rebuild Manchester United and knows he will be guaranteed a spot in the first team.

The report added that he won't rush into a decision over his future and is likely to represent Holland at the Nations League before moving across Europe.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to finish among the top four at the just concluded Premier League season and he is planning to bolster his squad.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ajax center-back Matthijs de Ligt is set to complete a switch from the Dutch side to Spanish champions Barcelona this summer.

According to sources, the £65m-rated Dutch star has been repeatedly linked with Liverpool and Manchester United after excelling in Ajax’s impressive run to the semi-finals of the UCL.
