Abducted OAU professor regains freedom after 2 days in kidnappers' den

- The abducted OAU lecturer, Professor Olayinka Adegbehingbe, has regained her freedom

- Adegbehingbe was abducted on Sunday, May 5, along Ife-Ibadan expressway

- OAU's public relations officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, confirmed that the lecturer has been released

The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has confirmed the release of a lecturer, Professor Olayinka Adegbehingbe, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on the evening Sunday, May 4.

Daily Trust reports that the public relations officer of the university, Abiodun Olanrewaju, confirmed that the professor had regained his freedom.

Legit.ng gathered that Olanrewaju said the university management expressed her appreciation to the general public for their support, love and concerns over the abduction of the professor.

He said: “The University Management hereby express her appreciation to the general public for their support, love and concerns.

''OAU management also thanked the officers and men of the Osun state command of the Nigeria police, particularly the police commissioner, for their prompt response and professionalism.''

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that some gunmen on Sunday, May 5, kidnapped a lecturer and staff of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Professor Adegbehingbe.

It was reported that Adegbehingbe was kidnapped along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway.

Adegbehingbe was said to have been abducted near Ikire, few minutes to 9 pm while traveling to Ife.

Also, some other vehicles that were moving along the route when the incident happened were said to have to stopped because the gunmen wielding sophisticated weapons, partially blocked the road.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
