Revealing the development, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's spokesman, said that the culprits' arrest was aided by in-house intelligence information, adding that some of them are both second degree holders and undergraduates in universities.

Fabian said that with the help of owners and operators of some Computer Based Test Centres (CBT), the criminals engage in multiple registrations yearly, in which fingerprints of original candidates were seen alongside those of the culprits.

Concerning the development, the board said: “The modus operandi of these UTME syndicates was confirmed when one of the kingpins was apprehended recently

“This Development is the fundamental reason for the decision of the board to revalidate all biometrics of candidates that have taken the board’s examination in recent times.

“This timely action would enable the board to not only fish out and dismantle these registration cartels and racketeers but also bring them to book along with their collaborators.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a man identified as Umar Sani had been arrested in Sokoto state for malpractice as the 2019 UTME on Saturday, April 13.

Sani reportedly works as a professional examination mercenary who specialises in writing JAMB tests for multiple candidates.
