Tottenham battle Man City for supremacy in Champions League quarterfinal clash

- Tottenham vs Man City battle for supremacy in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, April 9

- Both sides progressed to the quarterfinal stage following their impressive results in their last 16 games against German oppositions

- This game will also be the first UEFA organised match in Spurs new arena while Sergio Aguero is doubtful for the Citizens heading into the game

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester City to their new stadium for their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg clash on Tuesday, April 9.

The two teams are no aliens to each other in the Premier League, but this is the very first time they will be clashing at the top European championship.

Spurs reached the last eight stage after producing impressive performances in the round of 16 - beating Borussia Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate.

While the Citizens cruised to a 10-2 aggregate against another German League side Schalke 04 in the last round.

Most definitely, this will be one of the most exciting fixtures in this round of the championship as the two sides have already met once this campaign, and City claimed a 1-0 win in the tie.

Mauricio Pochettino will however hope his men can build on their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in last weekend's EPL victory at their new stadium.

With Sergio Aguero doubtful for this crunch meeting against Spurs, Pep Guardiola might be forced to tweak his formation going into the game.

The Argentine striker last featured for his side in their 2-0 win over Fulham last month, and he has missed their next two games in the EPL - both which ended in victories for City.

And they will hope to avoid crashing out of the championship at this stage - having lost to Liverpool at the quarterfinal stage last season.

While Spurs are in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since their sole previous appearance eight years ago.

This is City's third last-eight tie in the past four seasons – and a second successive contest at this stage against a fellow English club.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
