Suspected gunmen on Sunday, March 31, reportedly kidnapped 12 firewood traders at Dagafada village in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.
Daily Trust reports that the incident occurred around 7am at the village located along Kaduna-Niger state border.
It was learnt that they were there to cut wood which had been their source of livelihood in the area.

A resident of Birnin Gwari who is also a member of the Civilian JTF in the town said that majority of the victims were residents of Birnin Gwari town.
Gwari said their abductors were yet to contact their families. Spokesman of the police in the state, Yakubu Sabo, did neither picked any of several calls nor called back.
Recall that Legit.ng reported that suspected cattle rustlers on Tuesday, May 29, killed eight persons at Kurega village in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, police said.
The rustlers reportedly attacked the community which shares a boundary with Birnin Gwari local government, shooting sporadically. Residents of the community said the incident occurred around 2pm.
Legit.ng previously reported that there was a pandemonium in Katsina when about 20 people who were going to their separate villages from a wedding ceremony in Kankara were attacked and abducted by unknown gunmen in the outskirts of the town.

The villagers from Safana local government area of Katsina state have confirmed the incident said the gunmen opened fire forcing them to stop, demanded for valuables like cell phones and money.
It was learnt that two men escaped and one was hit by a bullet in the arm during the attack, with fear of being a burden in case he doesn’t make it, the gunmen freed him and gave him a description of how to get to the highway.
