It was also said that Oluwole was said to pluck mangoes from the tree by one of his teachers immediately after the school’s tutorials around 1:30pm.

According to a source, the incident happened on Saturday, March 30, a day the students were asked to come for tutorials, adding that the deceased was rushed to the hospital before he died.

The source said: “This is the fourth time a student would be falling from the tree whenever they are sent by their teachers to pluck mango for them.

“We all came for tutorial on Saturday. After the tutorial, one of our teachers asked him to pluck mango for him. It was while he was on the tree trying to pluck the mango that he fell and was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

“This is the fourth time a student has died after falling from that particular tree in this school, and our teachers don’t hesitate to send us to pluck mango for them, despite the danger and our cries that the tree is evil.

“But we can’t disobey them whenever they send us to climb the tree to pluck mango.”

It was also gathered that the principal and teachers were nowhere to be found as the news of the incident spread around.

The deceased’s father, Pastor Bode Adegoke, while confirming the incident, said that the part of the tree his child stood on broke and made him hit his on the floor.

The father also said that people came from the school to sympathise with him except for the school’s principal who could not be found since the incident happened.

The state commissioner of education, Femi Agagu, and the police spokesman, Femi Joseph, both said the matter is still under investigation.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
