- The Red Devils will now hope to bounce back to winning ways when they host Manchester City at Old Trafford in four days time
Manchester United risk not qualifying for Champions League next season after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Everton at the Goodison Park.
The Red Devils came into this fixture with the hope of returning to winning ways after their disappointing out at the Camp Nou last week.
Ole Guunar Solskjaer's men were however stunned by their hosts, who put four goals into the back of their net and put their top four finish ambition under threats.
Richarlison opened scoring for the Toffees just after 13 minutes of play through an incredible acrobatic kick in United's danger zone.
The goal from a poor clearance by United's defender who tried heading out a long throwing from the hosts at the left flank of the pitch.
Marco Silva's men then doubled their lead with just two minutes to half hour mark with a long range shot from about 23 yards from David De Gea's goal post.
The 29-year-old received the ball in a counter attacking move from his teammate and made a solo run towards the arc before launching the thunderous shot that went straight into the net.
And the referee signaled the half time which with the hosts going into the dressing room with two goals advantage.
Everton continued their impressive performance in the second half as they were not going to allow United overturn the result with just 45 minutes left to play.
And in the 56th minute, Lucas Digne increased his side's tally after benefiting from yet another poor clearance from United defence.
Digne was well positioned to receive the loose ball and picked a hole among the visitor's defenders before sending the ball back, and this time, it went straight into De Gea's net.
Meanwhile, it took Theo Walcott just 13 minutes after coming on for Richarlison to register his name on the scores sheet.
The former Arsenal attacker put the game behind United's after netting the fourth goal for the Toffees with a low but close range shot.
Walcott made a super run into United's defence after receiving a nice pass from Gylfi Sigurdsson and then place the ball out of De Gea's reach.
While the Red Devils were only able to record just one shot on target after regulation period at the Goodison Park.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will now face Manchester City in a rescheduled fixture at Old Trafford on Wednesday, April 24, as they hope to destroy their chances of winning the EPL again.
