- A popular Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, has said that Onnoghen's resignation is the proper thing to do

- Agbakoba said that though he questioned the procedures surrounding the CJN's suspension, he could not say he was innocent

- The lawyer said that now that the National Judicial Council (NJC) has found he liable, Onnoghen took the right action

A popular Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, has said that decision to resign by Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), is the right thing to do.

Agbakoba said, however, he believed he did the right thing to question the processes surround the suspended CJN's trial.

He also said that though he questioned suspension by Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari, that does not mean he can say that the CJN is innocent until a court says so.

The SAN added that now the National Judicial Council (NJC) has found him liable, the CJN did the proper thing by resigning.

He said so on his twitter page as can be seen below:

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that Chief Robert Clarke (SAN) said that the federal government should be praised for the decision to take the Onnoghen to a tribunal.

The senior advocate in an interview on Sunday, April 6, said the government knew what they were doing when they took the CJN to court.

Clarke said there are so many things the government does that are not common knowledge to the citizens because they know more than everybody, adding that the government should rather be given credit.

Legit.ng also gathered that Adegboyega Awomolo who is the lawyer to the suspended CJN explained that he resigned in the interest of the judiciary.

It was reported that the lawyer confirmed that Onnoghen resigned on Thursday, April 4.

Awomolo said he spoke with the suspended chief justice of Nigeria who said he took his action on behalf of the judiciary.
