No room for negotiation with bandits - Zamfara CP

- The Nigeria police has declared that there will not be any room for negotiation with bandits in Zamfara state

- According to the police, the bandits should expect that the force will come against them in full force

- Going further, the police assured Nigerians that issues of banditry will soon be over in the state

The commissioner of police in Zamfara, Celestine Okoye has said that the security agents in the state will not negotiate with the bandits terrorising the people of the state.

Okoye made this position known on Sunday, April 14, in Talata-Mafara while addressing newsmen shortly after a state Security Council meeting.

“When you talk of negotiations, it means the issue has not gone far. We have shut down all avenues of negotiation.

“The bandits should know that we are now going to come in full force and there will be no escape for them.

“Very soon, armed banditry activities will be over in Zamfara, but we will not disclose details of the measures to be used,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that as some parts of the country continue to battle with the menace of insecurity, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) decried the collapse of security in the country.

Prof. Ango Abdullahi, convener of the forum, claimed that the situation was more serious in the north, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to be sensitive to the plight of the people in the region.

He said while the north still lives under horrendous Boko Haram threats, the situation has been "aggravated by threats of banditry, kidnappings, armed robbery, marauding youth gangs, herders and farmers mini-wars, and seemingly overwhelmed or indifferent governments".
