Messi in high spirit despite 1 injury as Barca stars head back to Spain after Man United win

- Lionel Messi appeared unaffected by his Chris Smalling-induced swollen nose

- Barcelona returned to Spain from Manchester airport late on Wednesday after a crucial 1-0 win

- The reverse fixture of the Champions League quarter final tie takes place next week

Lionel Messi remained in positive mood with a swollen nose as he headed back to Spain with Barcelona teammates after their 1-0 win over Man United in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

According to Daily Mail, Messi, who suffered a bloodied nose from Chris Smalling at Old Trafford, was sighted at Manchester airport as Barca squad members made their way to the aircraft.

The Argentine needed treatment before he was could complete the game, but he appeared to be in good spirits, with bruises around his nose - as he prepared to fly back to Spain.

Messi assisted Luis Suarez for the only goal of the march- but his header was diverted beyond David De Gea reach into the net by United’s Luke Shaw.

Suarez was also spotted carrying a travel bag as he made his way to catch the flight back to northern Spain last night.

Interestingly, ex-Man United defender Gerard Pique helped Barca keep a clean sheet, with the Red Devils failing to fire a single shot on goal.

United must now find how to score at the Nou Camp next week, if they nurse any ambition to reach the semifinal of the Champions League after eight years blackout.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported Barcelona are one leg through to the semifinals of this season's Champions League following their slim victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Catalans took the lead through an own goal from Luke Shaw who deflected Luis Suarez's header into his side's net in the 12 minute.

Marcus Rashford tried restoring parity for the Red Devils almost immediately after conceding their first goal but his efforts was intercepted by the visitors defenders.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
