The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been accused of abusing freedom of speech by attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami.
Malami who was reacting to allegations that he wanted to cause constitutional crisis in Rivers state claimed that the PDP is taking the freedom of speech too far.
The athoney general disclosed this while fielding questions from state house correspondents on the outcome of the federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, April 10, The Cable reports.
“Regarding what was leveled against me by PDP, I think it remains an accusation. It has to remain so until proven through a judicial process,” he said.
“But for me I think it is freedom of speech that has been taken too far.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Abubakar Malami, the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Sunday, April 7, said President Muhammadu Buhari is happy with the achievements recorded in the recovery of assets in the in the country.
Malami made this known at a 2018 award-giving ceremony by the Ministry of Justice in Abuja, through a statement by the minister’s spokesman, Salihu Othman Isah.
He said the ministry had recorded successes in the “anti-corruption drive, defence of the federal government and its agencies in multitude of cases which has saved the federal government from becoming liable for damages running into billions, Justice sector reform initiatives, promoting compliance with the administration of criminal justice act, Prison decongestion and Assets recovery.”
