Kidnappers free civil servant on eve of daughter’s wedding

A civil servant kidnapped along Abuja-Kaduna expressway, Muntari Yusuf, has been released by his abductors.

Yusuf who is the general manager (public relations) of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET), was kidnapped on Tuesday, April 2 along the notorious Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

PRNigeria reports that he was freed Friday, April 5 by his abductors on the eve of his daughter’s wedding.

The NiMET’s official who recently survived a ghastly motor accident with multiple fractures, also successfully gave out his daughter, Hassana Mukhtar Yusuf, to Saifullah Abdulaziz, in marriage this Saturday, April 6.

It was learnt that family members and well-wishers of the NiMET senior staff, rallied round to raise the money for the kidnappers, four days he was taken into hostage.

The wedding Fatiha ceremony was held at the Barhim Housing Estate’s Jumuat Mosque in Katsina state, after his freedom.

Legit.ng earleir reported that the kidnappers initially demanded N50million, but when the family raised N6million, the kidnappers rejected the offer, describing it as rubbish.

Yusuf was then heard in emotion-laden voice directing his brother via phone to withdraw N2million from his account and sell off his car to augment the initial offer.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reiterated its commitment to support the Nigeria Police, DSS and other security agencies with real time ‪geospatial and imagery intelligence whilst making available its air assets for the ‬conduct of tactical air support missions and ‪increasing the frequency of air reconnaissance along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway and Kaduna-Birnin Gwari axis.

This is part of inter-agency cooperation to address security challenges in the country, especially the issue of kidnapping and armed banditry along the route.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar, disclosed this on Wednesday, April 3, while playing host to the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, and the Director General DSS, Yusuf Bichi, at Headquarters NAF, Abuja.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
