Just In: Ebonyi state university names institute after Buratai, appreciates his peacekeeping effort

- The Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has named its new institute for peace and strategic studies after Chief of Army staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Brutai

- Professor Chigozie Egbu, the VC of the institution said the gesture is to recongise Brutai's effort in ensuring peace and security in the country

- The VC also added that the institution is interest in a partnership with the Army to ensure a well-educated military for continued security

The Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has named its new institution for Peace and Strategic Studies after the Chief of Army staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Brutai.

Professor Chigozie Egbu, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, stated this on Friday, April 19, during a visit to the COAS in Abuja at the Army headquarters, Vanguard reports.

The VC appreciated the Brutai’s effort under the army in ensuring and promoting peace in the country, especially during the 2019 general elections.

The chancellor also said the university is ready to go into partnership with the Army to ensure a well-educated Army for effective military duties in the 21st century.

He said:“Ebonyi State university is ready to collaborate with the Army on the trust that a well-educated Army is essential for effective military duties in the 21st Century.

“We are also delighted that you are interested in the establishment of an Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies at EBSU to offer members of the Armed Forces, Police and paramilitary agencies the opportunity to get higher and relevant education”.

Egbu also added that the governor of the state, David Eweze Umahi gave the approval for the naming of the institute after him.

The Army chief appreciated the gesture as he dedicated the honour to officers and soldiers for their commitment towards security in the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Buratai charged commanders to always carry along sister security agencies in addressing challenges in their areas of responsibility.

The lieutenant general gave the charge on Monday, April 8, in Bauchi after he inaugurated 16 blocks of 10 flats each for soldiers at the Armoured Barracks in the state.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
