Former Real Madrid midfielder set to become a professional Darts player

- Rafael Van Der Vaart is edging close to making professional darts debut

- The 36-year-old is ready to hang his boots after series of injuries hampered his career at Danish League side Esbjerg fB

- The Dutch man has entered for the BDO Denmark Open and Denmark Masters early next month

Former Real Madrid midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart is reportedly close to making his professional Darts debut.

The 36-year-old joined Danish topflight side Esbjerg fB last summer making just three league appearances for the outfit since then.

But with series of injuries plaguing the Dutman's career in the league, he announced he would retire from football soon.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star is now ready to exchange his football boots for a set of 'arrows' and begin a new phase of his career doing a different sport entirely from football.

According to Sport Bible, the history of Darts is not complete without the mention of Dutch greats like Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld along with a smorgasbord of others from Netherlands.

The publication reports that Van Gerwen is considered as the most talented player to have played the sport by some quarters.

Despite the feat achieved by 16 time world champion Phil Taylor, and his continued success shows no sign of letting up.

Meanwhile, van der Vaart has now entered for the BDO Denmark Open and Denmark Masters, being played at the beginning of next month.

The midfielder has been a big darts fan and has previously entered a pro-am tournament with Van Gerwen in Germany but they lost the final against Max Hopp and actor Jimi Ochsenknecht.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Ex-Real Madrid and Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has revealed he is retiring from the round leather game.

According to a Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf, the 35-year-old Van der Vaart, who is in his 18th year as a professional football star was under contract with Danish side Esbjerg fB.

I just have to stop now. I am not here to rehabilitate, but to play football. The fun will be different and that's what I want to be.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
